Clemson Baseball Prepares For Series With Georgia

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson (28-7) plays host to Georgia (21-13) Tuesday at 7:15 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in its next action. The game will be broadcast on College Sports Southeast (television) and the Clemson Sports Network. Georgia defeated Clemson 10-6 on March 29 at Foley Field.

Georgia. led by first-year Head Coach Ron Polk, leads the all-time series 106-86-2 dating back to 1900. Clemson is 9-4 against Georgia under Jack Leggett.

Georgia enters Tuesday’s game with a 21-13 record overall and 8-6 record in SEC play. Georgia lost two of three games at Vanderbilt this past weekend and is 5-8 on opponents home fields compared to 16-3 at home. Shortstop Jeff Keppinger leads the Bulldogs with a .414 batting average and .481 on base percentage. Catcher Doc Brooks is hitting .355 with 11 homers and 37 RBIs. Georgia is hitting .324 as a team along with nine runs per game and has a .968 fielding percentage.

Georgia’s ERA is 5.58 and opponents are hitting .281. Junior righthander Andy Hussion (1-0, 4.76 ERA) will start on the mound for the Bulldogs. Hussion has made three appearances in 2000, all in relief, and has pitched 5.2 innings.

Clemson will start freshman righthander Ryan Childs (1-1, 4.64 ERA) against the Bulldogs. Clemson sports a 2.71 ERA and .232 opponent batting average.
