Clemson 17th in Final Football Attendance Figures

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson averaged 75,793 fans per home football game in 2009, the 17th best average in the nation. It was an improvement from a #18 position in 2008 and it marked the 29th consecutive year the program had ranked in the top 20 in the nation in average home attendance. Clemson has been in the top 20 every year since 1981, the year the Tigers won the National Championship.

Clemson had the highest average home attendance in the ACC in 2009. Florida State was second with a 74,369 average.

Clemson’s national ranking improvement shows the effect the state of the economy had on college football in 2009. Clemson’s average home attendance fell by 3,371 fans per game in 2009 compared with 2008, yet Clemson’s national ranking went up from 18th to 17th best in the nation.
