Clark Earns All-Region Honors, Advances to NCAA Cross Country Championships

Greenville, NC – Junior cross country performer Matt Clark finished sixth to lead Clemson to a 10th-place team finish in the NCAA Southeast Regional on Saturday. By doing so, he earned his second straight All-Region honor and advanced to the NCAA Championships for the first time. That event will be held November 21 in Terre Haute, IN.

Clark completed the 10K course with a time of 30:12.7. His sixth-place finish gives him four top 10 finishes in five events for the Tigers this season.

The Tigers took home 10th place with 279 points. William & Mary won the event with 68 points, followed by Virginia (91) and N.C. State (96). Josh McDougal of Liberty had a repeat individual title and improved on his event record with a time of 29:40.1.

The second scorer for Clemson was sophomore Greg Isaacs in 53rd with a time of 31:48.8. Itay Magidi returned for the Tigers and finished 66th with a time of 32:01.9. Eric Soder (69th, 32:02.8) and Sean Reilly (90th, 32:23.5) rounded out Clemson’s scoring five.
