Catanzaro Named Lou Groza Kicker of the Week

Oct. 10, 2011

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson kicker Chandler Catanzaro has been named one of three weekly winners of the Lou Groza Star of the Week Award. Catanzaro was joined by Texas Tech kicker Donnie Carona and Northern Illinois kicker Mathew Sims.

It was also a career game for Catanzaro. His perfect 5-for-5 performance helped the 8th ranked and undefeated Tigers to a 36-14 victory over Boston College in Death Valley. The Greenville, South Carolina native connected on field goals of 47, 42, 38, 20 and 18 yards. He is now 5-of-6 on field goals of 40+ yards this season and 11-of-15 on kicks of that length for his career. He also contributed three PATs to score a career high 18 points, half of Clemson’s point total. Catanzaro has made 10 of the 12 field goals he has attempted this season and has yet to miss an extra point try.

The Lou Groza Award will be presented as part of The Home Depot College Football Awards in Orlando, Florida on Thursday December 8th. The three finalists will be honored at the 20th Annual Lou Groza Awards Banquet on Tuesday December 6th at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
