Bruck Finishes Sixth in 50 Free at NCAA Championships

March 22, 2012

SEATTLE, WA – Clemson junior Eric Bruck represented the Clemson men’s swimming and diving team with a sixth-place finish in the 50 freestyle at the NCAA Championships in Seattle on Thursday. At the end of day one at the national meet, Bruck’s 12.5 points have the Tigers in 19th place.

“It was a great swim for Eric,” Head Coach Christopher Ip said. “The sixth-best finish in the nation is great for this program. We only have two swimmers here, but we are determined to close out Clemson swimming in style.”

Bruck opened competition for the Tigers by posting a time of 19.61 seconds in the finals, which was good enough for a tie for sixth place overall. He qualified for the final meet by finishing seventh in the preliminaries with a time of 19.39 seconds, his second-fastest time of the season in the 50 freestyle.

The Tigers will have the day off on Friday before returning to the pool on Saturday. Bruck will compete in the 100 freestyle, while senior Chris Dart will swim in the 200 backstroke on the final day of competition. Preliminary heats will begin at 2 p.m. ET, while finals in all events will begin at 10 p.m. ET.
