Bennett Retires Yet Continues Work For Clemson

July 13, 2004

On June 30 it became official. George Bennett retired from his primary role as Executive Director of IPTAY. Bennett, well known among the Clemson Family, has served 27 years at Clemson University in various roles. Along with Nancy, his wife of 44 years, he has become one of the most popular figureheads at Clemson.

George was recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Association of Athletic Development Directors, capping off a very memorable career in fundraising. While the Bennett’s plan on using some of their newly found “free time” to enjoy their seven grandchildren, George will still be very much involved with Clemson Athletics. He will continue to serve as an ambassador for the University and his duties will include managing the Brick Program, which he began, and continuing to assist with IPTAY membership and the WestZone project. He is also taking on more responsibility with the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame. George’s new office will be located in the Jervey Athletic Center, office 103D, and he can still be reached at 864-656-2972.
