CLEMSON, S.C. – Freshman outfielder Seth Beer (Suwanee, Ga.) has accepted an invitation from USA Baseball to play for the 2016 Collegiate National Team this summer.
In 2016, Beer leads Clemson in batting average (.419), hits (57), homers (14), RBIs (50), slugging percentage (.801), walks (37) and on-base percentage (.552). He has reached base via a hit or walk in each of the last 39 games that he has had a plate appearance. He has also hit safely in 36 of those games. Earlier in the season, he had a 26-game hitting streak, tied for fourth longest in school history.
In April, Beer, who graduated high school a semester early to play for the Tigers in 2016, was named midseason national player-of-the-year and midseason national freshman-of-the-year by D1Baseball and Perfect Game.
The Collegiate National Team plays an international friendship series at Chinese Taipei, Japan and Cuba starting July 5. The team’s training begins June 27 in California.
