Barnes Named ACC Co-POTW

CLEMSON, S.C. – Junior lefthander Charlie Barnes was named ACC Co-Pitcher-of-the-Week, announced Monday by the league office. Barnes received his first career weekly honor by the ACC along with Wake Forest righthander Parker Dunshee. It marked the fourth week in a row a Tiger was honored by the ACC, as Chris Williams was named ACC Player-of-the-Week on March 20, Alex Eubanks was named ACC Pitcher-of-the-Week on March 27 and Reed Rohlman was named ACC Player-of-the-Week on April 3.

Against the national leader in home runs (Virginia Tech) on Friday, Barnes allowed just four hits, one run and two walks with a career-high-tying 11 strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched to earn the win. He faced just four batters over the minimum.

On the season, he is 4-2 with a 1.51 ERA, .216 opponents’ batting average and 67 strikeouts against 10 walks in 53.2 innings pitched over eight starts. He is third in the ACC in ERA, innings pitched and strikeouts and tied for third in wins.
