Ansari, Pinazo to Participate in ITF?s Player?s Choice Open

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson Men’s Tennis teammates Austin Ansari and Arturo Pinazo travel to Birmingham, Ala. to take part in the Player’s Choice Open, an ITF Futures tournament hosted by the United States. Ansari and Pinazo will both be competing in the Singles Qualifying Draw, which consists of a field of 128 of the best Futures tennis players from across the globe. The Singles Qualifying Draw will begin today and continue through Monday Nov.2, after which qualifying players will advance on to play in a field of 32 players in the Singles Main Draw on Tuesday Nov. 3 – Sunday Nov. 8 to determine the overall winner of the $10,000 monetary prize.

Each round of play in this tournament is in head-to-head format, where the winner will advance to the next round of play with the loser being no longer in contention. Ansari, the senior from Greensboro, N.C., will face Canadian Justin Ghavami in the first round of the Singles Qualifying Draw while Pinazo, the freshman hailing from Malaga, Spain, will face Rogerio Barrozo, of Brazil, in his opening competition.
