Aug. 15, 2005

Clemson track and field junior Danny Alge and recent graduate Scott Kautz have been named to the All-Academic Team for 2005 by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Both are former walk-ons who went on to earn scholarships for the Tigers.

Kautz graduated in May of 2005 with a 3.48 GPA in Language and International Trade. He earned an All-America certificate by finishing ninth in the 400m hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships this past May. Kautz also earned All-ACC honors in the outdoor event. He ranks fifth on the school’s all-time performance list in that event as well. Kautz is now competing professionally in Europe.

Alge is a two-year letterwinner at Clemson and he currently sports a 3.80 in Biosystems Engineering. He ranks fifth all-time in school history in the 35-pound weight throw and third all-time in the hammer throw.

Both Alge and Kautz were named to the ACC’s Academic Honor Roll for the 2004-05 season.
