Freshman Setter Kate Federico helped lead the Clemson volleyball team to a trio of victories this past weekend en route to being named MVP of the Clemson Classic.
The Tigers opened the tournament on Friday with a three-set victory against William and Mary. Federico tallied 34 assists and added five kills.
On Saturday, Clemson defeated Wofford and Tennessee State to capture the tournament crown. Federico tallied 28 assists and added four kills against the Terriers before adding a double-double with 56 assists and 13 digs against the Tigers of Tennessee State.
With her MVP performance, Federico now ranks second in the ACC with 10.43 assists per set. The freshman has a total of 365 assists in 35 sets.
Clemson improved to 9-1 on the season with the weekend sweep and travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. next week for the Crimson-White Tournament. The Tigers face San Diego State on Friday, Sept. 19 and FIU and Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 20.
