Mijacika earned All-America honors in both singles and doubles at the 2008 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships in Tulsa, OK last week. Mijacika advanced to the NCAA Doubles Quarterfinals for the second straight season, earning her second career All-America honor in doubles. The singles honor was the first for the Tiger sophomore.
Mijacika and teammate Carol Salge defeated the Texas tandem of Vanja Corovic and Mariya Milic by a score of 6-2, 7-5 to advance to the quarterfinal round, before falling to Renata Kucerkova and Anatasia Petukhova in three sets. The pair finished the season with a 17-3 overall record in doubles.
In singles play, Mijacika reached the NCAA Round of 16 before falling to Auburn’s Fani Chifchieva, 6-2, 6-4. The tournament’s number two seed, Mijacika recorded wins over Petukhova of Fresno State and Tatsiana Uvarova of VCU en route to the round of 16 and finished the season with a 30-8 record in singles play.
