Academic Advising

Role of Advisor

• Meet with student-athletes to discuss academic progress and any personal concerns
• Support student-athletes in selection of majors and course registration. Document student-athlete academic performance and NCAA eligibility
• Provide academic information to prospective student-athletes and parents during campus visits
• Reinforce time management, study skills, and basic learning values and intervention strategies
• Promote independence and lifelong learning as core values

Monitoring Tools:

Staff, with the assistance of GradesFirst, a web-based management system, and additional institutional software applications generate and utilize the following:

• Academic progress and class attendance reports
• Tutor feedback reports
• Monitored study hall usage reports
• Eligibility reports
