CLEMSON, S.C. – The No. 17/14 Clemson Tigers (11-5, 5-3 ACC) are set to host the Pittsburgh Panthers (8-7, 2-6 ACC) for the regular season finale on Thursday, April 17th at 5 p.m. at the Clemson Lacrosse Complex. The game will also serve as the program’s Pink Game.
LAST TIME OUT
Despite a six-goal effort in the fourth quarter, the Tigers fell to the then-No. 10/9 Stanford Cardinal, 14-8. Lindsey Marshall, Brooke Goldstein and Regan Byrne all scored a pair of goals while Lexi Edmonds and Bridget Babcock each contributed a goal. Marshall, Babcock, Edmonds, Goldstein and Natalie Shurtleff all also had at least one assists with Marshall recording two.
On the defensive end, the Tigers were led by Summer Agostino and Emily Lamparter. Agostino recorded a career-high five caused turnovers on the afternoon and tied the single-game record set by Paris Masaracchia last year against Notre Dame. Lamparter recorded her fourth double-digit save effort of the season. Emily Lamparter recorded her fourth double-digit save effort of the season and has surpassed 380 saves in her career.
STAND OUT TIGERS
Marshall has been a triumph for the Clemson offense this season. The Towson transfer has surpassed 50 goals and 60 points in her season with the Tigers, becoming the third player to do both in a single season on Clemson history and is on the precipice of becoming the new single-season record holder in both categories. Marshall is currently in the top-five in the ACC in goals and goals per game and in the top-20 nationally in total goals scored. Followed closely behind, Kayla MacLeod is also having a career year. The sophomore recently became Clemson’s all-time leading goal scorer with 73 goals in her career and has accumulated over 40 goals and 50 points so far this season. Goldstein has had one of the best seasons for a freshman in Clemson history. The Florida-native has decimated the single-season assists record with 30 on the year and is closing in Sofia Chepenik’s freshman points record of 53 (33 goals, 20 assists).
Edmonds and Shurtleff follow MacLeod and Marshall, recording 30 and 28 goals and have notched 40 and 42 points, respectively. Sophomore Regan Byrne, graduate Katie Castiello and Goldstein have all also broken the double-digit goals barrier. Shurtleff has followed up her ACC All-Freshman season with another All-ACC caliber year. The sophomore surpassed her freshman point and goal totals and is tied with Hanna Hilcoff for the most points in Clemson history. Edmonds, after a two-point effort, has exceeded 40 points and 30 goals in a season for the first time in her career. The Tigers have five players with 40 or more points in a season, the first time they have done so in the program’s history.Â
Thanks to her previous five-caused turnover effort, Agostino became the first Clemson player to reach 40 caused turnovers in a season and tied Paris Masaracchia’s single-game record for caused turnovers. Agostino is now one of five players in the with 40 ground balls and 40 caused turnovers on the season alongside Sydney Huhtala, Casey Murray, Kira Varada and Avery Hines and is the only player in a Power Four conference with both. Lamparter is the 16th-ranked goalie in terms of active career leaders in saves with 383. Graduate transfers Maggie Jordan, Babcock and Bryce Pfundstein have all also contributed heavily to the Tigers success. The trio have all recorded at least 16 caused turnovers on the season with Babcock and Jordan also picking up at least 20 ground balls. Additionally, Babcock and Jordan have been essential to the draw unit, securing 20 and 29 draw controls, respectively.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Jenna Hendrickson leads the Pittsburgh offense with 44 goals, the only Pitt player with more than 30 goals on the year. Sydney Naylor and Avery Moon round out the Panthers as the only three players with 40 or more points. Moon has a team-high 17 assists while Naylor and Kara Trullender have also recorded double-digit assists. Defensively, Jill Fenech, Megan Sheridan and Natalie Voorhees have caused more than 20 turnovers with Voorhees also being responsible for a team-high 36 ground balls. Aidan Carr leads the draw unit by winning 82 draws, while, in the cage, Molly Cain has been the primary goalie for the Panthers. Cain has recorded 124 saves for a 42.9% save rate and has allowed an average of 11.58 goals per game on 371 shots faced.
