#2 Georgia defeats Clemson 5-2

CLEMSON, SC–Second-ranked Georgia defeated Clemson 5-2 in a men’s intercollegiate tennis match at Clemson, SC Friday evening.

The match was played indoors at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center on the Clemson campus.

With the win, Georgia improves to 2-0 on the year, while Clemson falls to 4-1 this season. The Bulldogs are ranked second nationally according to the latest ITA poll.

The Bulldogs’ Luis Flores defeated Clement Reix at number-one singles 6-1, 6-4.

The Tigers’ Ryan Young defeated Matic Omerzel 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 at number four singles. Brett Twente was victorious for Clemson at number six singles with a win over Ricardo Gonzalez 7-5, 7-5.

Clemson will play at the Illinois Classic at Champaign, IL on February 10-11 in the Tigers’ next action.
