April 23, 2008

Clemson, SC – Fresh off a seventh-place finish at last weekend’s ACC Outdoor Championships, the women’s track & field program will head to Philadelphia for the running of the celebrated Penn Relays at Franklin Field. The Lady Tigers will compete in seven relay events, as well as the long jump and triple jump.

Patricia Mamona headlines the group traveling to Philadelphia. She will compete in both horizontal jumps, as well as the shuttle hurdle relay. The long jump will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, and she will compete in the championship section of the triple jump Friday afternoon. The shuttle hurdle relay will be Friday at 3:00 PM.

Also competing in the jumps this week will be April Sinkler and Nakeisha Wineglass. Sinkler will compete in Thursday’s long jump alongside Mamona, while Wineglass is scheduled for the collegiate triple jump section Friday at 11:00 AM.

Clemson will enter relay teams for the following events: 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m, 4x800m, shuttle hurdle, and distance medley. The 4×1 and 4×2 groups will be made up by Ra’Sheena Parker, Krystal Barringer, and Wineglass. The 4x800m relay will be Clemson’s lone event Saturday at 2:55 PM. Candice Johnson will lead a group of three freshmen – Joanie Castagno, Christina Mason, and Jill Yandle – in that event.
