Clemson, SC – The women’s track & field team travels to Blacksburg, VA to participate in the Virginia Tech Elite Meet this weekend. Twenty student-athletes from Clemson will be making the trip to the meet, which gets underway Friday for the Lady Tigers at 5:10 PM with the prelims for the 60m dash.

Two student-athletes have earned provisional qualifying status for next month’s NCAA Indoor Championships, including senior Polly Hardy in the high hurdles. She is entered in Saturday’s invitational section, which will be held at 1:40 PM. Hardy’s top time this year is 8.41 in the 60m hurdles.

Patricia Mamona has also qualified provisionally in the triple jump. She will compete in both the long jump and triple jump, with the latter event scheduled for 7:30 PM Friday. She will be joined by April Sinkler and Nakeisha Wineglass in the long jump Saturday at noon. Mamona holds the top mark in the ACC in the long jump.

Other Friday action will include the open 60m hurdles, 200m dash, distance medley relay, 5000m run, and high jump. Sinkler, a high school national champion in the vertical jump, will compete Friday at 8:00 PM in the event.

Saturday will mark the debut of Clemson’s most recent addition to its roster, Lilla Fördós. The native of Hungary will compete in the open section of the mile, along with Jenna Baker and Lisa Brown. The invitational pole vault will be held at 2:30 PM, and Clemson sophomore Caroline Kennedy will take part in the event.

A trio of young Lady Tigers will compete in the 3000m run beginning at 4:00 PM Saturday afternoon. Laura Laughlin, a sophomore from Aiken, SC, will race against freshman teammates Stephanie Buffo and Abby Iselborn in that event.
