Women?s Tennis Wraps up Play at Duckworth Family Fall Classic

CLEMSON, SC – Runner-up finishes from Tristen Dewar and Jessy Rompies highlighted play for the Clemson women’s tennis team in the Duckworth Family Fall Classic Singles draws this weekend. Dewar fell in the flight two finals, while Rompies went down in the flight three draw.  Ani Miao claimed third place at flight four, while Carola Pederzani was fourth in the flight-five draw. Miao, Dewar, and Rompies each won two matches on the weekend, while Pederzani went 1-2.  At flight two, Dewar defeated Lyn Yee Choo of ETSU, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (8), and topped Clara Perez of Armstrong Atlantic, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0(2). On Sunday, she fell in the final to Yukako Noi of VCU, 6-0, 6-3.  Rompies defeated Alex Apostu of Kennesaw, 7-5, 6-0 and Barbara Krtickova or Armstrong Atlantic, 7-6, 6-4 to advance to the finals. There, she fell to Sali Kvitashvili of VCU, 7-5, 6-2 to take second place.  VCU claimed singles championships at flights one, two, and three, while Armstrong Atlantic took titles at four, five, six, and eight.  Miao beat Isabel Von Stryk of USC Upstate, 7-6, 6-1 in the third-place match. She had taken down Ana Gerbasi of ETSU before falling to Carolina Prats-Milan in the semifinals.  Pederzani upended Roberta Oliviera of GRU, 6-4, 7-5 before falling to Meredith Maltby of Tulane. She then fell to Taylor Cohen of USC-Upstate in the 3rd-place match.  At the Riviera/ITA All-American Singles Backdraw, Yana Koroleva fell to Samantha Vickers of Tulsa, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 to close play in Pacific Palisades, CA.  Clemson returns to action in three weeks at the ITA Carolina Regional Championships in Chapel Hill, NC.  Singles Flight Champions: F1: Cindy Chala, VCU F2: Yukako Noi, VCU F3: Sali Kvitashvili, VCU F4: Carolina Prats-Milan, Armstrong Atlantic F5: Marlen Hacke, Armstrong Atlantic F6: Olga Klodzitsa, Armstrong Atlantic F7: Alia Nour, Charleston Southern F8: Dora Andrejszki, Armstrong Atlantic F9: Kelli Karas, Wofford F10: Jenny Borck, Lipscomb
