Women’s Tennis Falls to Indiana, 8-1

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Clemson women’s tennis team was defeated by Indiana University, 8-1, Sunday morning in Bloomington, bringing the Tigers record to 1-3.

Clemson freshman Carmina Giraldo was a bright spot for the Tigers at number one singles, beating IU’s Kelly Blanch by a score of 6-1, 6-4. At two singles Clemson junior Catherine Galvin took the loss to Jessica Anderson, 6-0, 6-0. The Tiger’s Christina Oldock fell at three singles to Zahra Ahamed, 6-2, 6-1. Clemson’s Cecilia Hincapie was defeated by Indiana’s Amanda Field, 7-6(0), 6-2, at four singles. At five and six singles, respectively, Clemson’s Cynthia Clausen and Kate-Maree Mair took losses to Ana Ceretto, 6-0, 6-2, and Karie Schlukebir, 6-1. 6-3. In doubles action, the Tigers Galvin and Mair fell to the Hoosier’s Blanch and Becky Wallinan, 8-6. At two doubles, Giraldo and Hincapie of Clemson took the loss to Ahamed and Schlukebir, 8-5. Clemson sophomores Oldock and Clausen were defeated by Indiana’s Anderson and Field, 8-1, at three doubles.

Clemson (1-3) will travel to Auburn for a battle between the Tigers on Saturday, February 20 at 10:00 am.
