Women’s Tennis Defeats #17 Georgia Tech, 4-3

CLEMSON, SC — The 44th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team defeated #17 Georgia Tech on Thursday afternoon in Atlanta by a score of 4-3. With the win, the Tigers improve to 12-7, and 4-1 in the ACC, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 13-7 (3-4 in the ACC).

Clemson won two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The Tigers’ 26th-ranked duo of Laurence Jayet and Alix Lacelarie were victorious at number one doubles by a score of 8-6 over Georgia Tech’s Sekita Grant and Mysti Morris. At flight two doubles, Anna Dolinska and Anna Savitskaya of Clemson fell to the Yellow Jackets’ Mason Miller and Jaime Wong, 8-3. Clemson’s Richele LeSaldo and Milena Stanoycheva won an 8-5 decision over Catherine Gunn and Laura Ozolins of Georgia Tech at number three doubles.

In singles action, Clemson’s 47th-ranked Alix Lacelarie defeated the Yellow Jackets’ Mysti Morris, 6-0, 6-2 at number one singles. Tiger Anna Savitskaya fell to #47 Jaime Wong of Georgia Tech in three sets 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, at flight two singles. Ana Stiglic of Clemson lost a 6-3, 6-2 decision at number three singles to 52nd-ranked Catherine Gunn of Georgia Tech. Clemson’s Laurence Jayet was victorious at flight four singles over Yellow Jacket Laura Ozolins, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1. At number five singles, Clemson’s Ioana Paun fell to Mason Miller of Georgia Tech by a score of 6-4, 6-3. The Tigers’ number six singles player, Milena Stanoycheva, won a three-set match over Georgia Tech’s Fallon Koon, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The Tigers will travel to Tallahassee to take on the 73rd-ranked Florida State Seminoles on Sun. Apr. 7. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
