Women’s Soccer Opens Against South Carolina

Aug. 27, 2003

The 20th-ranked Clemson women’s soccer team will play its season opener on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Riggs Field at Clemson, SC as it plays host to rival South Carolina as part of Clemson’s “Sea of Orange” Weekend.

The Lady Tigers return eight starters from their 2002 squad that finished with a 14-8 record and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. With a large veteran group returning, Clemson looks to improve upon last season.

Head coach Todd Bramble, who enters his third season, will look to senior Lindsay Browne and junior Paige Ledford to replace All-American, and Clemson’s all-time leading scorer Deliah Arrington. The midfield will be anchored by returning starters senior Allison Mitchell and sophomore Allison Graham.

In celebration of Clemson’s “Sea of Orange” Weekend, the first 500 fans wearing orange to Friday’s match will receive a free Solid Orange t-shirt with four of those shirts specially marked for additional prizes. In addition, the Tiger Band, Cheerleaders, Rally Cats, the Tiger and Tiger Cub mascots and Central Spirit will be on hand to welcome fans to the match.
