Women’s Cross Country Finishes Fourth at Gamecock Invitational

Columbia, SC – The Clemson women’s cross country team posted a fourth-place finish at the Gamecock Invitational on Friday evening with a point total of 106. Host school South Carolina won the event with 38 points, while Elon was runner-up at 65 points. It was the first meet of the season for the Lady Tigers.

Patrice McMillan posted her second straight top 20 finish at the Gamecock Invitational, as she finished 19th in 19:16. She was 19th as well in the 2005 race.

Clemson’s final two scorers for the meet were Thea Dix (19:41) and Lauren Klas (19:55). Dix placed 30th, while Klas came home 39th in her first-ever cross country event for the Lady Tigers. Another freshman, Elizabeth Tempel, narrowly missed scoring for the team after completing the course in 19:56 and finishing 41st.

Also competing Friday for the Lady Tiger team were Ashley Vaughn (20:21), Elizabeth Embler (21:30), Lauren Marriott (23:03).

The Lady Tigers return to action next weekend in Charlottesville, VA as the team will take part in the Lou Onesty Invitational.
