Women’s Cross Country Captures Tiger Classic

October 17, 1998

CLEMSON, S.C.- The Clemson women’s cross country team won the Tiger Invitational held Saturday in Clemson. The Tigers tallied 28 points, defeated Tennessee-Chattanooga by six points in the 5K race.

Junior Beth Ahern led the Tigers, placing second with a time of 17:38.4. Juniors Julianne Littmann and Erica Van Reenen placed third and fourth, with times of 17:42.5 and 18:02.7, respectively. Senior Brantley Epps also place in the top 10, taking eighth with a time of 18:12.6. Junior Shannon Schoppman placed 11th, finishing the race in 18:28.0, while junior Anne Stowell placed 12th with a time of 18:33.1. Sophomore Jennifer Meador finished the race in 18:38.8 to take 15th place. Freshman Abbey Hartman placed 31st with a time of 19:36.2. Sophomore Julie Stackhouse placed 43rd with a time of 20:27.3, and senior Kelly Lasher placed 44th with a time of 21:05.6.

The team will compete at the ACC Championships at Charlottesville, VA, on November 2.
