Women’s 4x400m Relay Puts Exclamation Mark on Hokie Invitational With Victory

BLACKSBURG, VA – Clemson won the women’s 4x400m relay with a season best on Saturday to highlight the final day of action at the Hokie Invitational on the Virginia Tech campus. The team of Whitney Fountain, Stormy Kendrick, Brianna Rollins and Marlena Wesh combined to a time of 3:39.49 as the Tigers won the event by over two seconds over the competition.

The men’s 4x400m relay took fourth place on Saturday. Clemson put together a time of 3:13.01, the best effort of the young season for the Tigers. The lineup consisted of Jordan Rispress and Miller Moss.

Joe Craig, a freshman two-sport athlete from Gaffney, SC, was fourth in the men’s 200m dash with a time of 21.52, best this season by any Clemson athlete. Bridgette Owens was eighth among 51 competitors in the women’s 200m dash. The freshman had a time of 24.54.

April Sinkler was second place in the long jump after putting together a season-best mark of 19’11.75″. She is two-time defending ACC indoor champion in the event, with both triumphs coming at the Hokies’ Rector Field House. Jasmine Brunson was fourth in the long jump with an effort of 19’2.75″.

Danielle Curry was fifth in the women’s shot put. The native of Ohio put together a mark of 47’8.5″, her best in a Clemson uniform. The Youngstown State transfer moved up a spot in the Tiger record books for the event, as she now stands seventh in school history.

The teams return to action next weekend for the JRF Combined Events Invitational at home on Jan. 28-29.
