Women Open Outdoor Season at Clemson Relays

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s track and field team opened the outdoor season at home Saturday at the Clemson Relays. The Lady Tigers finished third with 116 points. Western Carolina took first with 125.50 points and Virginia was second with 122 points.

The Lady Tigers won five relay events. The 4x100m relay team of Terri Robinson, Shekera Weston, Shonda Cutchin and Nikkie Bouyer won the event in 45.36. The Clemson 4x1500m relay team (Beth Ahern, Ann Stowell, Erica van Reenen and Julianne Littmann) ran an impressive time of 19:01.30.

Clemson’s 1,600 sprint medley relay team of Weston, Cutchin, Stephanie Hicks and Helena Janecic won with a time of with 4:07.53, more than a second better than any other team in the competition. The distance medley relay team of Littmann, Janecic, Jennifer Meador and Stowell won the event in 12:12.23. The 4x400m relay team (Cutchin, Bouyer, Hicks, Weston) also took first with a time of 3:44.68.

In the field events, sophomore Dana Copeland placed second with a mark of 5’5 3/4″ in the high jump. Freshman Erin Nett was second in the pole vault with a mark of 10’11 3/4″, while teammate Mandy McLane took third after clearing the same height on a later jump. Robinson was second with a jump of 19’03.25″ in the long jump, while junior Kammie Blount was second in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 145’09”.
