PREVIEW

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s basketball team takes the court for the final time in preseason action on Friday, when it hosts Wingate at Littlejohn Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. and admission to all exhibition games are free.

Last Time Out: The Tigers showed excellent command of the court on Sunday, emerging victorious, 84-50 in their first exhibition game of the season against Lander. Four Tigers recorded double-digit outings led by senior Aliyah Collier, who poured in 17 points for Clemson. Freshman Taylor Hosendove shot 6-of-9 off the bench with 12 points of her own.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Tigers outrebounded Lander 51-31, pulling in 15 offensive boards. Tylar Bennett and Kobi Thornton each posted double-digit rebounds, hauling in 12 and 10, respectively. Clemson tallied 11 steals in the contest and forced 21 turnovers.

Scouting Wingate: The Bulldogs finished the 2017-18 season with a 26-6 overall record, coming in at second in the South Atlantic Conference (17-3 SAC). The team averaged 69.8 points per game a season ago and outscored its opponents by 9.9 points per contest.

Wingate is without its leading point scorer and rebounder, Marta Miscenko, who graduated in May, but the Bulldogs return two players who averaged double-digit outings in 2017-18. Four of Wingate’s five starters are back for the 2018-19 campaign led by a trio of seniors, Danasia Witherspoon, Courtney Robinson and Taylor Helms.

Up Next: The Tigers officially open the season against Wofford on Thursday, Nov. 8. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. with the game airing on ACC Network Extra.

All single game tickets are on sale for adult and youth/seniors at $6 and $4, respectively. Children 12 and under are free. Single-game and season tickets can be purchased online or at 1-800-CLEMSON. All seats for women’s basketball are general admission.
