PREVIEW

Clemson looks to continue its winning ways on Wednesday, when the Tigers host High Point University for yet another midweek matchup. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. with the game airing on ACC Network Extra. Fans can also listen to William Qualkinbush and Tori Niemann, who have the radio call on Clemson Tigers Network.

In just the third meeting of the two schools, the winner will take the lead in the all-time series as each team boasts a 1-1 record against the opposition. This will be the first game between Clemson and High Point since Dec. 17, 2002 when the Tigers posted a resounding 84-56 victory over the Panthers.

The Tigers remained undefeated at home on Sunday after defeating Belmont, 65-62, in a game that came down to the wire. Clemson now sits at 2-0 in one-possession games, staving off late comebacks in back-to-back games against Illinois and Belmont. Senior Danielle Edwards paced the Clemson offense with 17 points, while Tylar Bennett fired the Clemson defense, tallying her third double-digit rebounding effort of the season with 11 boards.

High Point sits at 4-3 on the season with all three losses coming when on the road. The Panthers boast a high-octane offense, averaging 73.7 points per game this year. The team has eclipsed the 80-point mark in all four of its wins, thanks in large part to the Panthers’ ability to knock down threes. As a unit, High Point is shooting 31 percent from 3-point range.

Wednesday’s game is a family affair as Danielle Edwards’ cousin, Lindsey, is a guard for High Point. The duo grew up playing AAU ball together in Maryland but have not squared off in competition since high school when they played for rival schools.
