Volleyball Wins Four Matches at SMU Tournament

April 5, 2005

The Clemson volleyball team won four matches over the weekend at a tournament hosted by Southern Methodist University. The Tigers, one of 10 teams at the event, defeated Texas State (30-24, 30-26), UT-Arlington (30-23, 30-26), Baylor (30-28, 30-23), and SMU (30-23, 30-17). Because of the 10 teams involved, all matches were two games apiece.

“The team played really well on Saturday,” said Jolene Jordan Hoover, Clemson head coach. “I couldn’t single one player out, everyone played great. It was a team effort.”

Clemson did play with the services of 2004 senior Leslie Finn, who was filling in for a sidelined Meghan Stanton (appendectomy).

The Tigers return to the court Tuesday, April 5 to play host to Georgia at 5:30 PM in Jervey Gym. Clemson concludes its spring season on April 14 when the Tigers host Furman at home in a 5:00 match.
