Volleyball Travels to North Carolina for Pair of ACC Matches

The Clemson volleyball team travels to North Carolina this weekend for a pair of ACC matches. The Tigers travel to Durham, NC to take on Duke on Friday at 7:00 PM, and then play at Wake Forest in Winston-Salem on Saturday at 7:00 PM. Clemson will look to even its ACC record at 3-3.

The Tigers are currently 9-7 overall, 1-3 in conference play. Clemson swept non-conference foe Furman on Tuesday, giving the Tigers their first win since opening the ACC schedule with a win over N.C. State two weeks ago.

In the match against Furman, outside hitter Leslie Finn became just the fifth Tiger ever to record 1,500 career kills. She had 18 kills in the match. Lori Ashton hit .560 to lead the Tigers to the 3-0 victory over Furman, while tallying 17 kills. Ashton leads this year’s team with a .322 hitting percentage.

Anna Vallinch averages 4.44 digs per game and leads the squad with 279 digs overall. She had 15 in the win against Furman. She holds the Jervey Gym record with 35 digs, which she posted in the loss to Georgia Tech earlier this season.

Duke enters this weekend with a 13-3 overall mark, 4-1 in conference action. The Blue Devils are led by Carrie DeMange, who has a .357 hitting percentage and 238 kills. She also has 51 total blocks for the Blue Devils. Duke has won 13 of its last 14 matches.

Wake Forest comes into the weekend with an 8-6 overall record, 0-4 in ACC play. The Demon Deacons feature Morgan Havig, who leads the conference with a .414 hitting percentage. Havig also has 114 kills and 65 total blocks. The Demon Deacons were swept by Miami and Florida State last weekend.
