Volleyball to Host Duke and Wake Forest

CLEMSON, S.C. — The Clemson volleyball team (8-12 overall, 3-5 ACC) will host ACC rivals Duke and Wake Forest this weekend at Jervey Gym. The Tigers will play the Blue Devils Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and then play the Demon Deacons at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Friday night will be Girl Scout Night at Jervey Gym while Saturday night will be Lucky Fan Night. Admission is free to all Clemson volleyball home matches.

Duke is currently 15-7 overall and 4-4 in the ACC. When the Tigers and Blue Devils last met on Oct. 3, Duke took a 3-2 win over Clemson in an almost three hour long marathon match in Durham, NC. In that contest, Kiki Dallao led the Tigers with 26 kills, 20 digs and three blocks. Meredith Kirtland added 17 kills with 15 digs and Jodi Steffes tallied 14 kills with 11 digs and four blocks. Jessi Betcher handed out a match-high 70 assists and Lindsey Fuller had seven blocks (two solo) for Clemson. Sonne led the Blue Devils with 20 kills, 18 digs and six blocks (two solo). Dill added 15 kills with seven blocks (one solo) while Weymann tallied a team-high 19 digs. Ryback led the team in assists with 48.

The Demon Deacons are 13-6 overall and 4-4 in ACC matches. On Oct.7, the Tigers defeated the Demon Deacons 3-2 (8-15, 16-14, 15-13, 7-15, 16-14). Meredith Kirtland recorded 12 kills with 26 digs and Jessi Betcher tallied 60 assists. Davidson led the Demon Deacons with 26 kills while Maso de Moya had 24 kills with 31 digs. Phillips talllied a match high 79 assists and Fisher recorded two service aces with four blocks.

Meredith Kirtland is averaging 3.00 kills per game. Steffes also leads the Tigers in digs with 231 and in digs per game (3.30). Jessi Betcher is the assist leader with 749 assists this season (11.35 assists per game). Betcher also leads the team in aces per game with a 0.32 per game average (21 total). Jackie Dalleska has a team-best 0.92 blocks per game average.
