Volleyball Takes on Slovenia in Exhibition Tuesday

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson volleyball team will take on the Senior National Team from Slovenia in an exhibition match on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm in Jervey Gym. The match is free to the public and will not count toward Clemson’s 2012 record, but will be a good gauge for how the Tigers are playing in the early season. Live scoring will be available for the match. Slovenia is ranked 49th in the World Volleyball Rankings, and is coming off a 3-0 exhibition win against Georgia this past weekend. Clemson is 3-0 this season, claiming the Big Orange Bash without dropping a set, and allowing more than 20 points in just one of nine total sets. This will be the first meeting between the clubs, and represents a new kind of test for Head Coach Jolene Jordan Hoover’s veteran team. The exhibition comes between two tournaments for Clemson, with the Clemson Classic coming up this weekend. Clemson takes on Charlotte on Friday at 6:30 pm, and plays Chattanooga and East Tennessee State on Saturday. Sophomore Kristin Faust earned MVP honors this past weekend after tallying double-digit kill totals in all three matches, recording ten aces, and averaging 4.89 points per set. Mo Simmons (3.56 kills/set, .391 pct.) and Sandra Adeleye (2.89 kills/set, .392 pct.) were named to the All-Tournament team as well. Hoover won the 400th match of her career at Clemson against South Carolina State as well, and needs just six more wins for 500 in her career overall.
