Volleyball Hosts Wake Forest Friday

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball team (15-13, 6-9 ACC) is set to host Wake Forest in Jervey Gym Friday. Clemson will look to even the season series as the Demon Deacons came back to win in five sets in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Oct. 14.

Notes

  • The Tigers have won four of their last five matchups, dating back to Oct. 26 when they downed NC State in four sets.
  • Clemson has won more ACC matches (6) this season than in 2015-17 combined (4).
  • The Tigers six ACC wins this season is currently tied for the most conference victories since the 2014 season when Clemson went 6-12 in ACC play.
  • Most recently, Clemson swept Virginia (25-15, 25-19, 25-22) to pick up its first win at Virginia since 2012.
  • Freshman Solei Thomas (14 kills) and redshirt sophomore Brooke Bailey (11 kills) combined for 25 of the Tigers’ 42 kills against UVA.
  • Thomas hit .632 on 19 swings, which is currently the best hitting performance in an ACC matchup featuring Clemson this season, and second-best overall.

 

Series Info

  • After Clemson took the first two sets in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Oct. 14, the Demon Deacons went on to win steal the match in five sets. Four Tigers in Brooke Bailey (18), Ashtynne Alberts (13), Alyssa Deloney (12) and Solei Thomas (11) reached double-digit kills.
  • Alberts was the only player in the match at Wake Forest to earn a double-double with 13 kills and 15 digs.
  • Last season, the Tigers picked up their second and final ACC win against Wake Forest in Jervey Gym in sweep over Wake on Oct. 27, 2017.
  • Dating back to 1981, Clemson leads the all-time series 32-17.
  • The Tigers won the first-ever matchup, 2-1, between the two teams on Oct. 30, 1981.
