VCU Upsets Top-Seeded USC

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) – Virginia Commonwealth shortstop Brandon Inge hit a pair of two-run homers and Southern Cal coach Mike Gillespie was ejected in the third inning as the Rams (45-14) upset the top-seeded Trojans (41-16) in the NCAA East Regional.

VCU was 13-0 by the seventh inning. Inge drove in four runs, Justin Martin added three RBIs on three hits, and Ian Caballero had two doubles and two singles as every VCU starter had at least one hit and one run scored.
