Two Former Clemson Women’s Soccer Players Drafted in WPS Draft

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Two former Clemson women’s soccer players were drafted in the Women’s Professional Soccer league draft held on Monday, October 6. The draft consisted of four rounds of selections of international and domestic players for all seven teams in the WPS. Former Tiger defenders Nancy Augustyniak Goffi and Jenny Anderson-Hammond were the 11th and 22nd picks in the draft, respectively.

Augustyniak Goffi was selected by the Boston Breakers as the fourth pick in the second round of the draft. Augustyniak was a four-year starter on defense for the Tigers from 1997-2000 and was a member of the ACC 50th Anniversary Women’s Soccer Team. She was named a First-Team All-American by Soccer Buzz and Soccer Times and a Second-Team All-American by the NSCAA in 2000. The Peachtree City, GA native played for WUSA’s Atlanta Beat from 2001-03.

Jenny Anderson-Hammond was the first pick in the draft’s fourth round by NJ/NY Sky Blue FC. The Mission Viejo, CA native was a four-year letterwinner at Clemson from 2001-04. She was named a Freshman All-American by Soccer Buzz and was a member of the All-ACC Freshman team in 2001. She was also a four-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
