CLEMSON, SC – Two members of the Clemson women’s tennis team are set to begin their 2006 fall tournament season on Friday, Sept. 15. Alexandra Luc and Samantha Eppelsheimer will participate in the Thomasville Collegiate Invitational at the Arven Country Club in Thomasville, GA.

The event consists of 16 players from various universities competing in a round-robin format. Friday’s first-round matches will be played at 9:00 am, 10:30 am and 12:00 pm, with second-round action beginning at 1:30 pm. The tournament continues through Sunday, Sept. 17.

Luc, a native of Paris, France, returns for her second season with the Tigers. After entering Clemson in January, she posted a 16-7 record last spring playing primarily at the flight five position. Eppelsheimer is a freshman walk-on from Mt. Pleasant, SC. She lettered six times at Wando High School and was a member of the Warriors’ 2004 and 2005 AAAA State Championship teams.

The Tigers, led by head coach Darrell Jernigan, finished the 2006 spring season with a 17-8 record and the #18 ranking in the final Fila/ITA Tennis poll. Jernigan will accompany Luc and Eppelsheimer to this weekend’s tournament.
