Tigers Wrap up Day Two Preliminary Action at ACC Championships

Preliminary Results

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The men’s swimming and diving team wrapped up the second day of prelims at the Acc championships, posting several personal bests in the process. The Tigers were led by David Giambra, who posted a school-record 331.30 on the one-meter boards to finish fourth in prelims.

The first event of the morning was the 500-yard freestyle. Clemson sent freshmen David Gordon into the event. Clark emerged with a spot in the bonus consolation finals round with a 4:27.71, the seventh fastest time in school history.

The Tigers then took to the water in the 200 IM. Matt Angelini put in a 1:50.06, moving him out of a tie for sixth all-time in Clemson history. Tome Recko also posted a career-best as did Joe Knecht.

In the 50 free, the Tigers saw four swimmers under the 21-second threshold. Eric Lane (20.86) also posted solid times for the Tigers.

This evening, the Tigers will compete in the 200 free relay, with Oliver, Reinke, Broster, and Dart likely teaming up. Coverage on ACC select starts at 7:00 p.m. and can be followed with livestats as well.
