Tigers Topped by No. 25 NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Clemson men’s tennis team fell to NC State on Sunday afternoon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center, 4-1. With the loss, the Tigers slide to 9-8 (3-6 ACC), while the No. 25 Wolf Pack improve to 15-4 (5-4 ACC).

The Wolf Pack won the doubles point with victories on courts 2 and 3, in that order. On court 1 Alex Favrot and Simon Baudry, ranked 34th nationally, were leading the Pack’s 49th-ranked duo of Alexis Galarneau and Michael Ogden 6-5 when play was abandoned.

NC State took a 2-0 lead with a win at No. 1 when 37th-ranked Alexis Galarneau defeated 59th-ranked Alex Favrot, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Baudry cut the lead in half with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory at No. 2, picking up the lone point for the Tigers. The clinching match point came at No. 3 where Tadas Bebelis defeated Sam Edwards, 6-7 (8), 7-6 (3), 6-4.

Clemson returns to the courts Friday, April 13 against Duke. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m. at the Ambler Tennis Stadium in Durham, N.C.
