Tigers to Hold Orange & White Scrimmage Friday

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball team will play its annual intrasquad Orange and White Scrimmage on Friday at 5 p.m. in Jervey Gym. The scrimmage is free and open to the public, as are all Clemson home regular season volleyball matches.

This will be fans’ first chance to watch the Tigers’ four newcomers along with eleven returning players. The program graduated two starters from 2013, when the team went 15-16 overall and 9-11 in league play. Back are seniors Kristin Faust, Beta Dumanic and Karis Watson. Sophomore Leah Perri is also returning after being a solid contributor her first year.

Faust finished the season third on the team in kills, despite playing the first 12 matches at libero. She added to that a team high 403 digs and 21 aces. Perri finished the season second on the team in kills with 302, giving her the most kills by a first year player since Sandra Adeleye in 2009.

The Tigers add four newcomers, including Haleigh Hampton a 6-6 transfer from Long Beach State. The freshmen class includes Meghan Hanewall (Lombard, Ill.), Kate Federico (Plainfield, Ill.) and Gabby Blados (Liberty Township, Ohio).

Clemson will open the regular season on Aug. 29 with the first match of the 24th Annual Big Orange Bash at 3 p.m. vs. USC Upstate in Jervey Gym.
