Tigers Ranked 21st in Latest ITA Poll, Eidukonyte Up to 14th

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s tennis team is ranked 21st in the latest ITA poll released on Tuesday. The Tigers were ranked 20th last week and split a pair of ACC matches over the weekend. On Friday, the Tigers fought hard but ultimately fell 4-3 to No. 22 Duke but rebounded on Sunday to defeat Boston College 6-1. Nancy Harris’s team is 14-8 overall and 9-4 in the ACC.

Joana Eidukonyte, the Tigers highest ranked player, improved one spot from last week and comes in at No. 14 in the singles poll. The junior from Vlinius, Lithuania is 30-6 on the season and 11-2 in conference play. Romy Koelzer is ranked 36th. The senior is 18-9 and 9-3 in ACC matches. Beatrice Gumulya continues to rise and is ranked 59th this week.  She is 25-8 and 10-3 in conference.

Gumulya and her doubles partner Jessy Rompies remain third in the doubles rankings. The duo is 26-4 on the season and 8-2 against conference foes.

The Tigers return to the courts Friday, April 17th at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. Clemson will host Notre Dame in the team’s final home regular season match of the season and will honor seniors Romy Koelzer, Jessy Rompies, Beatrice Gumulya, and Yuilynn Miao.
