Tigers Lose To Vanderbilt, 6-1

Nashville, TN — The 39th-ranked Vanderblit men’s tennis team won all three doubles matches and five out of six singles matches to defeat 63rd-ranked Clemson 6-1 in Nashville on Monday evening. With the loss, Clemson falls to 4-18 on the season. Vanderbilt improves to 10-10 on the year. The Tigers have faced a nationally ranked opponent in 21 out of 22 matches this season.

After winning all three doubles matches and capturing the doubles point, Vanderbilt carried their momentum into singles competition. In the number-one singles position, 80th-ranked Eddie Coates of Vanderbilt defeated Clemson’s 61st-ranked Josh Goffi in three sets 6-3, 6-7, 6-3. True freshman Lee Taylor Walker picked up the lone point for the Tigers as he won his match in the number-six spot over Josh Tarkoff by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Brad Emendorfer, Marko Gojanovic, Micah Thompson and Jamin Thompson all competed in singles competition for Clemson.

Clemson will next be in action on Friday, April 13 as the Tigers host NC State at 5:00 PM.
