Tigers in 11th after First Round in Gainesville

CLEMSON, S.C.  –  The Clemson women’s golf team sits in 11th place after the opening round at the SunTrust Gator Invitational held at the University of Florida’s Mark Bostick Golf Course. The par 70 course measures 6, 701 yards in length.

Arizona leads the 15- team field with a 15 over par round for a team score of 295. Florida, GRU Augusta, and Florida State are in second through fourth, respectively, while UCF and Denver are tied for fifth place.

Clemson sits in 11th place with a team score of 312 in Friday’s round, 32 over par. However, the Tigers are only six shots out of fifth place as UCF and Denver both shot rounds of 306.  

Sophomore Jessica Hoang had the best round of the day for the Tigers with a four-over par 74. She is tied for ninth place through one round. Freshman Marisa Messana followed Hoang with a six-over par 76. Lauren Salazar shot an 80 and McKenzie Talbert shot an 82. Freshman Riey Lovorn shot a 90 and was Clemson’s noncounter in the opening round.

The Tigers will tee off the 10th tee Saturday from 9-9:36 a.m. and will play with Tulane and Florida International. Fans can follow along on golfstat.com.
