CLEMSON, S.C. — The men’s basketball program held its second annual “family day” — its first in newly renovated Littlejohn Coliseum — on Saturday. The Tigers held their second intrasquad scrimmage in the morning and followed with lunch in Burton Gallery, as head coach Brad Brownell welcomed the families of his players and staff.

“It was good to see all the families today, and introduce some of the new families to our basketball program,” Brownell said. “This year we got to show off the new Littlejohn, which is exciting for us. It’s especially good for the parents of our players to see where their sons are working and having a good experience.”

Jaron Blossomgame, a preseason All-American by several publications, stood out during the scrimmage. He posted 24 points and shot 10-14 from the floor, while adding five assists. Blossomgame threw down a dunk from Shelton Mitchell in the first game, and found fellow senior Sidy Djitte for a powerful jam late in the same segment to highlight some of the action. Mitchell was also a standout for Brownell’s team, finishing with double-digit assists over the three 12-minute games.

“Today’s scrimmage was good for our guys,” Brownell said. “I thought we were cleaner and didn’t turn the ball over as much this week. Jaron certainly played well, which you would expect. I thought our other seniors, Avry (Holmes) and Sidy, did some good things as well. Shelton has great size, and because of that, he has exceptional vision. He was much improved versus last week, which was good to see.

“By and large, I was pleased today with our effort in the scrimmage.”

The Tigers host Lander University in a public exhibition on Thursday, November 3, and open the regular season eight days later against Georgia on Nov. 11. Tickets are on sale by calling 1-800-CLEMSON or visiting ClemsonTigers.com.
