Tigers Hire Former Rowers as Assistant Coaches

Clemson rowing’s head coach Susie Lueck has named Farrell Finstad Second Assistant Coach and Emily Kuivila Director of Operations for the Tigers. Finstad and Kuivila are both recent graduates of Clemson and former Tiger rowers.

Farrell Finstad rowed with the Tigers from 1998-2002 and has spent the last year working as an undergraduate coach. Finstad was a member of the inaugural 1998-99 team that won the Atlantic Coast Collegiate Regatta and raced in the undefeated Novice 8+. She rowed in the First Varsity 8+ for her sophomore, junior, and senior years. Finstad was also a member of the ACC Crew of the Year in 2001. Finstad graduated in May 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in graphic communication.

Emily Kuivila coxed for the Tigers from 1999-2003 She has been named a CRCA All-Region honoree for both 2002 and 2003 as well as a 2002 and 2003 National Scholar Athlete. In addition Kuivila was named to the 2003 All-ACC rowing team. She coxed the South Region Champion Second Varsity 8+ in 2001 and has been named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the 1999-2002 seasons. Kuivila earned her bachelors degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management with an emphasis in Sports Management.

“We are excited to have both Farrell and Emily on staff. They bring a lot of experience within the Clemson community as well as enthusiasm for the program,” said head coach Susie Lueck. “They will be valuable assets in recruiting walk-ons and high school rowers. We are looking forward to having a unified and loyal staff that will bring Clemson to the next level.”
