CLEMSON, SC – Khalil Greene went 3-4 with five RBIs, including a grand slam, to lead Clemson to a 9-2 victory over Georgia Southern Wednesday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Clemson (12-0) remained undefeated on the season while taking two games from Georgia Southern (12-7).

Clemson opened the scoring with five runs in the second inning. Jarrod Schmidt led off the inning with a double and was followed by walks by Collin Mahoney and L.J. DeMaino. Schmidt scored on Kyle Frank’s RBI and all other runners held to load the bases for Greene. The senior shortstop responded with a towering shot to center field that cleared the bases.

The Tigers extended the lead in the fourth inning. With runners on second and third, Greene came through again with a base hit that plated DeMaino. Next batter Jeff Baker cranked a 1-1 pitch deep to center field for his third home run of the year that pushed the Clemson lead to 9-0.

Georgia Southern scored its first run in the fifth inning off of Clemson starter Steve Reba. Reba (4-0) picked up the win by pitching five innings, allowing one run and six hits while striking out four. B.J. LaMura and Patrick Hogan combined for three scoreless innings of middle relief. Georgia Southern picked up a run in the ninth off of Tyler Lumsden, but never posed a serious threat. Brian Harrison (0-2), one of seven pitchers used by the Eagles, picked up the loss.

Greene finished with a home run, double and a single to pace the offense. In hitting the grand slam, Greene picked up his 200th career RBI. He leads Clemson with a .551 batting average, including a .607 average with runners on base.

Clemson will take on South Alabama this Friday at 7:15 in the first of three games. Matt Henrie (2-0) is expected to take the hill for the Tigers on Friday.
