Tigers Defeat N.C. State 3-1 In ACC Women’s Soccer

CLEMSON, SC – Lindsay Browne scored her seventh goal of the season as 13th-ranked Clemson defeated N.C. State 3-1 in a women’s Atlantic Coast Conference soccer match at Clemson, SC Sunday afternoon.

With the win, Clemson improves its record to 10-3 overall, 4-3 in league play. N.C. State falls to 7-6 overall, 0-4 in the ACC. Clemson is ranked 13th by Soccer America and 14th in the NSCAA poll.

Clemson scored two goals late in the first half. At the 33:49 mark a N.C. State defender misplayed the ball in the back. Paige Ledford took the ball and beat the N.C. State goalkeeper Julianna Gomez for her sixth goal of the season.

The Lady Tigers scored their second goal of the day at the 42:41 mark. Tatum Clowney sent her corner kick into the box. Allison Mitchell sent a shot from 18 yards out to the left corner of the goal for her first goal of the season.

N.C. State scored at the 48:20 mark. Adrienne Barnes scored her six goal of the year with assists by Katherine Warman and Jordan Allison. Clemson scored late in the game at the 89:35 point. Lindsay Browne scored her seventh goal of the season with an assist by Jenny Anderson.

“I think the changes we made in personnel made a difference in the game,” said Clemson Head Coach Todd Bramble. “You could tell that this was the fourth match in eight days for Clemson. I think we played well in the first half but we played tired in the second half. Overall, I am pleased with the win.”
