Tigers Defeat FGCU in Final Meet of 2016

CLEMSON, S.C. – Led by strong performances from Jaya Brown, Sarah Blank, Hannah Donovan and Danielle Reitsma, the Clemson diving team ended 2016 with a 30-8 win in their dual meet against Florida Gulf Coast in Coral Springs, Fla.

In the one-meter, Brown (276.30) claimed first place and posted a Zone qualifying score. Reitsma, Donovan and Caylin Hirapara placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively, and Tiger divers also took sixth through 10th place. Brown (290.33) also qualified for Zones in the three-meter, and she placed second in that event. Blank earned first place in the three-meter and was the only diver of the 14 competitors to top 300 points with her Zone score of 302.10. Donovan, Reitsma, Megan Hays and Morgan Fiske rounded out the top six.

Tiger divers also participated in a platform exhibition, and Hirapara (225.15) claimed first, with Fiske, Allison Brophy and Megan Jendra rounding out the top four.

Clemson begin its 2017 campaign at the Tennessee Diving Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn. The competition runs from Jan. 3 to Jan. 5.
