Tigers Claim 2006 Clemson Cross Country Invitational For Fifth Straight Year

CLEMSON, SC – The Tiger men’s cross country team claimed its fifth straight Clemson Cross Country Invitational title on Saturday morning with a score of 19 points. Sam Bryfczynski placed first in the race to become the fourth straight Tiger to win the annual event, while a total of six Clemson student-athletes earned top-10 finishes.

Gardner-Webb University placed second with a score of 54 points, while Western Carolina finished third with 64. In fourth place was South Carolina State with 121 points, and Piedmont College was fifth with 134.

Individually, Sean Reilly finished sixth with a time of 26:12.60, while teammates Jay Lumpkins (26:32.60) and Eric Soder (26:47.20) placed eighth and ninth, respectively.

Also competing for the Tigers was Josh Elam, who finished 12th with a time of 27:31.90.

The Tigers will be back in action at the end of the month as they will participate in the Louisville Classic in Louisville, KY on Sept. 30.
