Tigers Boast Top-Ranked Teams in Two Relays

Nov. 22, 2011

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s swimming team has enjoyed a successful 2011 season so far, with several student-athletes posting swims that are among the best in the nation. Now, the Tigers have added a pair of top-ranked relays to the fold.

Currently, Clemson’s 200 free relay and 400 free relay teams are ranked first in the country after a pair of impressive swims over the weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational. The 200 free relay team of Eric Bruck, Chris Reinke, Seth Broster, and Chris Dart posted a time of 1:19.18, and the foursome combined again for a swim of 2:56.54 in the 400 free relay.

“I am excited to see Clemson on top of the NCAA rankings,” Head Coach Christopher Ip said. “Being ranked number one in the nation in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay is something these men want for our program. Anytime you get a number one ranking, it fortifies the fact that we are doing things right for the university. Each one of these guys gave up a little bit of their individual success to ensure our relay’s success. That is the transformation you get when representing a collegiate program where your team comes first.”

The Tigers also have a pair of swimmers ranked in the top ten in five combined individual events. Eric Bruck is fifth nationally and second in the ACC in the 100 free (43.63), and he is tenth nationally and third in the conference in the 50 free (19.96).

Chris Dart is seventh in the nation in the 200 IM (1:48.64), eighth in the nation in the 200 back (1:45.80), and tied for tenth in the nation in the 100 back (48.04). Dart leads the conference in all three events.
