Tiger Volleyball Team Falls To Maryland, 3-0

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (30-27, 30-24, 30-21) decision to ACC-rival Maryland Saturday night at Jervey Gym. The Tigers fall to 6-10 on the season and 2-6 in the ACC, while the Terrapins improve to 8-8 overall and 4-4 in the league.

Three Tigers posted double-figure kills, and Ryane Beasley tallied 13 kills to lead the Clemson hitters. Leslie Finn and Jodi Steffes added 10 kills each, and Steffes led the team in digs with nine. Steffes also served up a match-best four aces. Jessi Betcher handed out 20 assists, while Breezy Ambort dished out 18. Lori Ashton led the Tigers in blocks with three (one solo), while Finn and Beasley added two blocks each.

Maryland’s Lynnsy Jones led all hitters with 14 kills, while Willette Dority added 12 kills and a team-high two blocks. Brennan Carey also tallied double-figure kills with 10. Amanda Ayres recorded a team-best 11 digs, while Lindsay Davey handed out 45 of the Terrapins’ 49 assists.

Clemson continues its’ ACC schedule as the Tigers travel to Duke for a 7:30 p.m. match Friday, Oct. 19, and then take on Wake Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20.
