Tiger Volleyball Team Falls To Florida State, 3-1

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (30-23, 30-32, 30-26, 30-23) decision to Florida State Friday night at Jervey Gym. The Tigers fall to 4-5 on the season and 0-2 in the ACC, while the Seminoles improve to 2-5 overall and 1-0 in the league.

Florida State outhit the Tigers .304 to .247 and recorded eight service aces compared to the Tigers’ one ace. Clemson tallied 11 blocks (three solo) while the Seminoles recorded eight blocks (two solo). Florida State posted 56 defensive saves and the Tigers had 42 digs on the night.

Clemson was led by Lori Ashton who tallied 17 kills with six blocks (one solo) and a .609 hitting percentage (17-3-23), while Jodi Steffes and Meredith Kirtland added 13 kills each. Marija Zoric also recorded double-figure kills with ten and added four blocks (one solo). Steffes and Stephanie Haskell led the team in digs with nine each, and Jessi Betcher handed out 54 assists.

Florida State’s Norisha Campbell led all hitters with 20 kills, while Alex Sevillano added 18 kills with nine digs and two service aces. Kristin Frye tallied 14 kills with ten digs and three service aces while Erica Bunch recorded 12 kills with a match-high 17 digs. Elizabeth Pound led the Seminoles in blocks with five (one solo), and Jennifer Anderson dished out 65 assists.

The Tigers (4-5, 0-2) will play host to Duke (9-0, 1-0) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Admission is free to all Clemson home matches.
